Friday... that's tomorrow... I'll be there from 5pm and it ends at 9pm... Artspace Commons at the corner of 800S and 400W... Art, some crafty vendors... I'll even have jewelry WITH Art on it... well, as part of it:

Miniature Original Watercolor Paintings by Phil... who's previous band (Audio Dyslexia) has a song in the movie Pariah in this years Sundance Festival (which started today. first screening of Pariah at Eccles tonight at 9:30)... Swans gets back on tour in the Southwest and West Coast in a month...

So, if you're downtown in Salt Lake tomorrow evening/night, swing by Artspace Commons and say hi, pick up some Art, some wearable Art, some crafty stuff and stuff.

The Road More Traveled

So... I'm on my way to GA. Day one - the longest drive - is behind me and it's all still long ways each of the next, but not as and more winding... Plus they lead to friends at the end of the day ;}

Then... I get a day of rest and visitation and then a nice Red Eye to London... Yay! More friends (long time haven't seen them) and catch up with Swans for 4 dates of the UK tour. Really looking forward to that! I'd see every show Phil ever played - if I could.

Back on Halloween (I'll be wearing the mask of exhaustion) and then make, make make to get ready for the Peachtree City Jewelry Expo on the 6th and the Calico Arts & Crafts (Moultrie) on the 13th & 14th.

THEN, I get to jet up to PA (Macungie and Philly) for a couple of Jewelry Parties and then up to Minneapolis to visit my Dad; THEN back to Utah for more Jewelry Parties and another weekly Market. New one indoors on State Street.

Well. That last one is still tentative...

Anyway. I still have room for more Jewelry Parties on the way back. So... if you're on the way to Minnesota from Philly (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, or Minnesota anyone?), drop me a line and get yourself penciled in for November 21st or 22nd (depending on how far you are from Philly/close you are to Minneapolis) or 23rd or 24th if you're on the way from Minnesota to Utah (Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Far Northern Colorado).

Music and This Weekend's Market Sitting

Ok, tonight's the night. First time since April you'll get the chance to see THEChildren perform. Yep, if you missed them at the Delancey, tonight's your chance to catch em. Phil's playing the hammered dulcimer and djembe drum; John A's going to be in this line up; and Michael (Weiner), while not really a singer, is always entertaining. Oh, and the venue is a little different too. It's in a clothing store!

Yep. So, if you're anywhere near NYC tonight around 7pm, swing by Label on Lafayette between Spring and Prince. Enjoy the spectacle and the accessories.

Oh, and make sure you swing up to Pearl River on Sunday for a day of shopping! Well, at least try to swing by the Beth Am Temple Holiday Boutique and say hi. Doors open at 10am and shut at 4pm. Plenty of time to get some shopping in and grab some baked goods from the kids. I have some new jewelry... whanna see some?

New styles, some new techniques, all new designs. Like? The swirly ring is adjustable... and the stones are Labradorite and Citrine... If you like and can't make it to Pearl River on Sunday, then you better get in touch before then. Don't think I'll be bringing these back home...

Making New Jewelry for Indiemade

Allentown has been bery bery good to me...

From Scratch got off to a good 1st year start and it went so well, it looks like they're planning a second event in Spring. I'm looking forward to it already! Of course, if it weren't for the people who saw me at Indiemade last year and recommended me to the organizers, I wouldn't be there at all. So, THANKS Indiemade!

Speaking of which, I'm in the process of making some new jewelry that will be debuting there. At the December 5th Indiemade Craft Market that is. Here's a little sneak peak:

The beads are all early 1950's and Japanese in origin. All Lampwork beads by nature. Throwing in some gemstones too. See em? Yep. There they are. Haven't finalized the designs yet, but will be working on that today when I'm done with this... and once I do the dishes.

Oh, and it looks like I won't be able to do anymore Squish Markets til next year. Can't do this month after all and next month the date is earlier and conflicts with my first day up at the Tight Knit market up in Troy... oh well. I'll definitely do some more next year, but probably the next one will be in February cause I think I'll be at Tight Knit on the January date too. I'll keep you posted.

I will be at the Beth Am Temple in Pearl River NY this Sunday though and Phil has a show with the Children on Friday in The City - at Label. It's a store. I'll write more about that tomorrow when I know what time they plan to launch into song.

Oh ya. Phil's watercolor painting based necklaces are selling like hotcakes and he painted two more last night that I'm going to try finish up in necklace form to take with me this weekend... though, if I don't get them finished in time for that, I'll have them with me in Griffin, GA for sure... going to do a party trunk show at The Next Chapter Bookstore on N. Hill Street on Black Friday... look for those pictures later in the week or Monday before I drive South. More on that later too.

Small Works & Trexlertown: Do You Know What These Have in Common?

Well, one opens on and one is held on Saturday, November 14th. Oh, and I'll be represented at both places...

I just dropped off five brand new just made for this show necklaces with miniature original watercolor paintings by Phil attached to them for the Small Works Show at Zuzu's Cafe in Beacon, NY. Wanna see them? Ok:


This came out a little too light on the painting. It's got a lovely orange sunrise color behind the trees. This painting is my favorite of the five and this picture does not show how amazing the painting is! The necklace is made with Brass that I handformed and linked with Baltic Amber, Citrine, Emerald, and Tourmaline gemstone chips. You can get it at the show for a mere $130.



This picture came out the best of all five. It really shows the color and detail of the necklace. Handformed Copper wire connected by handmade links of Brass with these gorgeous little laser cut Brass colored Copper beads at the center of each swirly chain section is what this is made of. Yours for only $125.



Squiggle. Pinks and blues and Brass and what is it? Even Phil doesn't know. The handformed chain is Yellow Brass, Rose Quartz and Blue Lace Agate though. The perfect piece for every pastel and pink lover. A unique look for only $105.




Cross, telphone pole? Phil won't say. We called it Pale T. This picture doesn't show the beautiful pale pinks and blues and greens washed across the painting though. It's really lovely. So I took some lovely Brass and linked the wire with White Topaz that's been dyed a pale blue. You should see this when the light hits it just right. It's stunning! Only at the Small Works Show. Just $95.




The colors came out pretty nice in this picture, though it's a little lighter than in person. Purples and burgundy, greens and blues. The necklace has all the same shades in Tourmaline handlinked with Brass wire. Get this at Zuzu's for $110.

I won't be at the opening though because, I'll be in the Trexlertown Grange selling a bunch of other jewelry at the From Scratch Handmade Artists Market. There's going to be live music and baked goods there too! First one ever. And, your donation of canned food (for an entry discount) will be going to the Second Harvest Food Bank too. Have fun and get some charity on. That'll be over in the Trexlertown Grange. That's in Pennsylvania. Where all the hipster cool people will be in Trexlertown, PA this Saturday, natch.

Of course, that's a bit of a walk if you want to go to both, but at least you can go to Zuzu's another day for the five necklaces above - until they're sold or the show's over, whichever comes first...

Oops! Forgot to Tell ya...

Halloween night, at 8pm, in Williamsburg, at MonkeyTown... Phil's one of six musicians who are making new music to play during the silent film: Haxan, Witchcraft Thru the Ages. Should be a really good time and maybe I'll even have time to throw a costume together... hahahaaaaaaa. We'll be leaving as soon as it's done though, since we have to be up bright and early for the Arts & Crafts in the Valley on Sunday... If I don't see you on Halloween, maybe we'll see you on All Saints Day? Or is it the Day of the Dead? Guess it depends on where you are and what you pratice... eh?

Neither Rain, Nor Snow, Nor Broken Tent...

Well, it looks like my last weekend of outdoor festival and market going for the year will be spent in the snow and sleet and rain under a (hopefully) repaired tent.

Last Saturday the wind ripped the moorings from the ground and hurtled my tent over the top of my tables, bringing another table with it, and broke and bent in several places. I managed to get most of it hammered out and put back together, but one side arm that shattered at the drill point is a little sketchy and the holes in the tent top may or may not have all been found and patched...

And...

It's supposed to snow tonight (depositing up to an inch) and tomorrow morning and then just rain all day after it warms up too much to snow.

None-the-less, it is rain or shine - or snow - at the Fall Foliage Festival in Highland Falls tomorrow. My check was received and, I will be there to try to make my money back and then some - in space number 78!

Hopefully, some of you will come out to see me (and help me warm up) somewhere in front of the West Point main entrance on Main Street (I have some new jewelry:)



and then head north up 9W to Beacon for the auction to benefit the Audrey Chibbaro Youth in Arts Scholarship Fund! A lot of wonderful artists have donated work for the Auction. Besides the jewelry/watercolor that Phil and I donated, Edie Nadelhaft, Judith Peck and Eileen McTiernen have all donated work. Hopefully some of you can make it to both events.

Art Auction Date Correction with Pictures

Ok, I was wrong. I admit it. I had the dates mixed up. I'm going to blame the Mercury Retrograde.

The correct date for the big art auction is October 17th. From 5pm to 8pm. At Mount Beacon Fine Art. You can start PReviewing (see my mistake) the art tomorrow. Though not all of it will be on display until closer to the auction.

Apparently, most of the artists did not feel the need to be punctual with the delivery of their donation. Hey, I was told to get it there by today, so I did. I'm not bad mouthing anyone... um... I guess I'm just tooting my own horn then... ;]

Anyway... It's a silent auction and the Gallery will be setting minimum bids on all the work so, contact them for info on where you'll need to start to get your hands on my newest, one of a kind (and totally different than anything else I've ever made), necklace. It's going to a good cause and you can bid by phone or e-mail if you can't get to the gallery in person.

This is the necklace I made for the Auction [100% of the proceeds (of MY art - well, Mine and Phil's art - anyway) is going directly to the Audrey Chibbaro Youth in Arts Scholarship Fund]:

The original mini watercolor painting was done by Phil Puleo (signed on the back) and is covered by a clear acid free film for protection...

I knitted wire and fiber together with Rose Quartz and Garnets and made the fancy swirly chain all by hand. No jigs for me! Did I mention this is the first time I've made a handmade chain for a necklace (that wasn't just links with beads or stones that is)?

Can't tell you how long it actually is cause, I was in such a hurry to get it made and take pictures and get it delivered (with all publicity materials requested), that I forgot to measure it.

Wait, I might be able to figure it out - pretty close to anyway.

Ok. I know it's longer than 16" because the woven part is 6" long. Each swirl is about an inch and there are 12 of them... let's see... well, it's longer than 18"... each connector is about a quarter inch... so, it's probably closer to 20". You'll have to try it on to see how it actually looks on you though...

Now, get over to Beacon and get those bids in!

Behind Every Musician...

So, this last week I helped Phil launch a KICKSTARTER project. Most of the video work, some of the vox pops in the finished video and a lot of the writing is my contribution efforts. Oh, and the cracking of the proverbial whip to get it done in a timely manner...

Now, hopefully, a lot of people will see it and want to be part of the project. One of my friends who I e-mailed it to said the music on the video was creepy and gave him nightmares. I said: thanks for the compliment on behalf of Phil.

I also figured out how to do wire knitting (on a spool) last weekend so, I'll have some pictures of new work with that for ya'll to look at - hopefully - next week. Maybe at the end of this one, if I have enough time. Phil painted a few more mini watercolors for them so, now I just have to put it all together and take some pictures.

I'll post updates for shows and events for the end of the month and beginning of October at the end of this week or, at the latest, by next Monday.

A Blog By Any Other Name

Everyone is blogging. 

Everyone. 

Even Phil; who is a man of well chosen words. That means he's pretty quiet, for the most part. Though, when he has something to say, he has a lot of it to say. I think he stores it up. Usually he communicates through his music, art or photography. The last of which is the basis for his new blog, the name for which came to him before the content. Well, actually, when he went to start his blog, there were already two that had differently spelled versions of the same name Phil was going to use, so he settled on this:

Polly Blog Nature

Which is a play on his more well known online moniker: The Polywog

(and contrary to the copyright info at the bottom of the polywog site, I actually took both of the pics of Phil that he uses for each of the two sections on his website. I should probably make him credit me, noh?)

Not a lot of verbiage on this new outlet. Not a lot on his website either. All his descriptions, stories and musings are short and to the point but, I think, pretty interesting. Right now, there's just a small selection of his amazing nature photography (with a lot more to come) and a story of how one set of those photos came to be. 

I'll probably be getting roped in to check for mistakes and even edit those few words from time to time and even though it probably wont be updated on a regular basis, when he does update, he changes and adds a lot. So, if you like what you see, check back regularly - just in case. 

Now, if I can just get him to add his magic touch to the design for my blog...
