New Hudson River Market

[Another quicky... this officially makes the most blog posts I've ever written in one week...]

The NewNew and Hudson Valley Etsy Street Teams teamed up with Paper Presence and are having the Fall Calvalcade in Beacon on the same day as the next Hudson River Market. So, I thought I'd better put up a big notice for the 5 or so people who read my blog and live close enough to come down and help make all our days - on the lawn on Main Street - next Saturday!

That's next Saturday, September 12th, from 11am-6pm; just like the sign above says. [Click on the post title for a Google Maps link to the actual location, and on the poster image for the full size to print for your collection]

Thanks in advance, and I hope everyone has a great long weekend!

Quicky Update

Hey eveery body!

Some of you know this because I told you, it directly pertains to you OR, you subscribe to and actually read my newsletter...

What?

This: I have several pieces of new consignment jewelry out in the world as of today.

Six necklaces at Paper Presence (296 Main Street in Beacon, NY 845-849-2443), and three (now, but soon to be a few more) at Pink Cloud Boutique (2 Main Street in Harriman, NY 845-238-2752) as well. This is the first consignment I've had at Pink Cloud. [Any and all help at making it one of many will be very appreciated...;]

While the idea of the necklaces is similar; both stores actually have different, exclusive to them, versions of a new direction for me: wire word jewelry.

Since I'm just figuring out how to do it, I started with the short words and, as I get more comfortable with it, I'll make some longer words and then work on some other styles and uses I have kicking around in my head a little later as well.

For now, you can get something like one of these (or actually one of these):

at Paper Presence and something like this one (or this one):

at Pink Cloud Boutique.

Paper Presence still has some of my picture frame jewelry as well. You can put your own image in them OR, you can take in the photo you want in the necklace frame, hand it over, and Lydia will shrink it down and put it in one of my necklaces for you. These are really great for a personal gift.

As always, each one is different enough to make all the new necklaces one of a kind.

And that's pretty much all I have to say today. Oh, except:

Thanks for caring and hope everyone has a greaattt weekend!

Squisharita Anyone?

So, I spent the day at the Arsenal in Brooklyn yesterday - at the inaugural Squish Art Market. It was slow. But it was a lot of fun! Met some Fabulous people, drank some wine, sold some rings, drank a Squisharita (you'll have to come to the next one to find out what that is!), chatted with fabulous people, and sold some more rings. At the end of the day, all my sales were rings. I almost sold a watch and a pair of earrings... but all I sold were rings. So, I guess I'll have to make some more rings.

Not too many customers, like I said but, it was a beautiful day out and there was an outdoor market nearby... would have been packed if the clouds hadn't parted. So most of the crowd came in at the end. Unfortunately, several of the vendors had already packed up and left by then. Oh well. Their loss!

I'm going to do it again in September, or October - whenever the next one is - so I'll let you know as soon as I know so you can all be sure to be there! The Arsenal wasn't that hard to find - but I did Google Street View it before I went. There does need to be a little better signage, but all in good time, I'm sure. It is on the 4th floor though... so it'll be good exercise! Oh and Thanks to Justine for thinking of it and to Bob for the hosting venue. Squish!

Among the fabulous people I met yesterday was another Andrea (who happens to run an Etsy Street Team of 700 people!!). She told me I could link Twitter to my Etsy store so that it would tweet every time I added a new item.

Now, you all know I'm one of those people that says: Twitter?! Bah Humbug! Why would I want to update people on the minutiae of my life when that would be really boring for everyone involved AND I already feel like I spend too much time online and not enough making and showing my jewelry anyway? Actually, most of the people I know don't even have a Twitter account. But, I know a lot of people do and, since I won't have to actually send the updates myself once it's set up, I thought: Why not?! I'll just add my pictures and listings and blog posts and let this twitter feed tweet them out to the masses - or the minuses or thin air as the case may be.

So, since I had the laptop and a good bit of down time yesterday waiting for people to come in and buy rings, I set up a Twitter account and linked it to my Etsy store, Flickr page and my Blog. So, if you're a Twitterer, you can get a tweet from me whenever I put up new pictures, add items to my store, and write something new (like right now). Or you can tell the people you know who Twitter to do it... Doo it. Doo it. Comon. Doo it. Follow my Tweets. ;]

Ok. Now, there is a little not rightness with the account name so you can't just look for Custom Adornments. For some reason, Twitter wouldn't let me add the last "S" for my name. Though, I didn't see anywhere that mentioned this character limitation. So, my Twitter address is @customadornment. I think. I haven't really spent much time on the site and I'm not following anyone... Phil has an account, so I guess I should follow his non-existent updates. Anyway, if you know how that works, then just don't add the 's' at the end when you look for my Twitter self.

Oh, and if you're up this way: this week I'll be finishing up some small word necklaces for Paper Presence (in Beacon) and the Pink Cloud Boutique (in Harriman). There'll be different designs at each store, because I like to have every store get exclusive designs. Which means you should be able to pop over to one or both stores and get a couple this weekend... ;] Also, I've been asked to man the posts at Raindance this weekend as well. So, I'll be at Mower's Market in Woodstock on Monday... if anyones going to be in the area...

Sorry. No pictures this week, but I'll try to add some to my next post - promise!

New Shows Added

Looks like I'll be selling jewelry in Beacon in one more place:

The Hudson River Market. On Saturdays through Fall, at the lot between Hudson Beach Glass and Riverwinds starting at 10am. I'll have a booth on May 2nd, 16th and 23rd. That's this Saturday, in two weeks and again the week after that.

I hope to see a lot of you at one of those and, if you're in the Atlanta area, I'll be at the Hatch Market Mother's Day weekend in Griffin, GA. I have booth number 40 in the pass through to the Garden area (first one on the left as you head to the Garden).

Made a whole new Spring flower collection for the Mother's Day weekend show and finished up my pearl Spring Wedding collection as well. New stuff debuting at that show, so if you're in the area, be sure to come by and get the ones that works for you.

Here's a few pictures of the Spring Flowers collection:

I'll be taking whatever doesn't sell in GA to the second Beacon Hudson River Market date, so you can get some of it there too  - if there's any left;]

And don't forget to come by Paper Presence on Sunday, May 3rd for your own custom made picture pendant necklace. For Mom or for yourself.

This is Where I'll Be...

So, I got sick as soon as the store was all moved out. I had been holding it off because I didn't have time to get sick. So, it makes sense that once I did have time, that I would get sick. I'm better now. Even though there were snow flurries today.

In sweat shop mode now that I'm feeling better. Making new jewelry for upcoming shows and what's it. Which are:

Stormville Fleamarket on April 26th. Look for me in the New Section just past the food vendors in Stall #T349. I have a new - regulation for most craft shows - white 10x10 tent so, look for one of those with my name on it and jewelry under it;}

Then, on May 3rd from noon to 3pm, I'll be making customized picture frame jewelry at Paper Presence in Beacon, NY.

The next weekend (May 9th & 10th) I'll be in Griffin, Georgia for the Hatch Market. I'll be heading south on the 6th and heading back up the 11th. If you live in any of the areas along the route from NY to Atlanta, and would like to host a Jewelry Party, let me know and I'll schedule you in somewhere in one (or maybe even both;) of the directions.

Hope I'll see some of you at one or more of the upcoming listed above and, that I'll get to do a whole lot more jewelry parties now that I have more free time. Hint, hint;}

Rant and Roll - AND Updates

Ok. So, I did have a big rant planned, but I think I'm all wound down now. I'm sure I'll wind back up, so I'll just start with what's going on this month. And next month. Well, I did manage to eliminate February from the blog roster, and since there is so much going on right now, I just want to put it all in just in case I wind up not writing anything for another month plus.

So, pearldaddy's last day is March 28th. Going to have a big closing party on that last Saturday - the 28th - and I'll be doing deals all day and we'll party until I get tired and throw you all out after that. One of Phil's bands might play and all musicians are invited to bring instruments and accost our ears until we beg them to stop too. Then, I have to have it all cleaned out and give the keys back by evening on the 29th. So I'm a little stressed trying to get that to happen on schedule while making as much merch and all the display furnishings disappear by then.

AND, if one more non-buying blankity blank comes in just to ask me "Why are you closing" I might say something not nice. See, I got wound up again.

Well, not really surprising since I was talking about pearldaddy and Sunday was another day where 90% of the people walking in asked that exact question and walked back out without purchasing anything. Way to answer your own question, don'tcha think? Actually, without fail, every single person who's asked that question hasn't bought a thing. Oh, Wait. I know what I'll say next time: "Let me ask you this: are you going to buy something or are you just browsing?" When they say: "Just browsing." then I'll answer: "Well, you just answered your own question." Of course, what I really want to say will be this: "@@#$(!&&$#)#)$#!$!*#$&%"

And, while I'm at it, Carbon Offsets?! Either you pollute or you don't. Buying someone else's good intentions doesn't make you a better person! And what about all the wasted money NY State has spent on roads that just have potholes - even worse than before - just two months after they're repaved?! That winds up being good for mechanics and just about no one else! Ok. That's the rant - for now;}

Let's see, what else?

Well, right now I'm really just too busy getting everything sold off and moved out and cleared up at pearldaddy to teach any beading classes, but I'll try again in April. Don't have a schedule yet, but you can check on the Pink Cloud blog site at the end of March and look for the classes taught by Andrea - cause that's me - if I don't get around to listing the classes and dates here before then.

Oh, and I have some exclusively made for, one of a kind jewelry at Raindance in Beacon. Be sure to drop by if you like the following pictures because Raindance is the only one who has them - well,  it's all one of a kind, isn't it? - 456 Main Street (next to the Piggy Bank parking lot).

Seven one of a kind Sterling necklaces and seven matching earrings. All with Vintage beads and gemstones.

Also, I'll be making customized picture frame necklaces in conjunction with Paper Presence in Beacon (296 Main Street) throughout April for Mother's Day. I'll have sample necklaces on view there by the end of March. Basically the way it will work is: you pick a frame style and metal type, choose the birthstones (or tell us the birth months) of all the children giving the frame to mom, and give a picture of the kids in question to Lydia to miniaturize. A week or less goes by, and you'll get a customized picture necklace to give to mom.  We're still finalizing all the details but, as I mentioned, should be up and running with that by the end of March.

In other news: Still waiting to hear back about craft shows for May and the one planned for June was cancelled for lack of location, but I'm definitely going to be at the Park Silly Sunday Market in Park City, Utah on July 26th and August 9th. If you live in that area and want to host a jewelry party while I'm out there, get in touch. We have to speed through to get there in July but, if you're along the route back to NY, and want to throw a jewelry party the second week of August, let me know that too.

Ok. Well, that's pretty much it for now. Hopefully I'll get time to update ya'll in the near future. If not, I'll make sure I get at least one in for April. Oh Ya. Almost forgot: mark your calenders if you're in NYC and not otherwise engaged on April 9th. Phil will be playing at the Delancey with the Children.... Larkin Grimm is on the bill too. Should be a really good time.

Right. That's really it for now. So. All the best of the best to everyone until I type atcha again.
